The Community Housing Service is entering an exciting period of change, as we respond to the challenges of new housing legislation, health and social care integration and the implementation of a new housing options advice service. In addition further welfare reform, including the introduction of Universal Credit, presents continued challenges for many of our tenants. To met our objectives in the Single Outcome Agreement, Council Service Plans and the new Social Housing Charter, we are focussed on working as One Council to deliver the best possible landlord service for our customers. This vacancy offers an excellent career development opportunity for a highly motivated individual, to lead a local housing team to contribute to meeting these objectives.
In addition to a range of questions we will ask at the interview, candidates will be asked to complete a short ten minute presentation on the following:
‘What do you view as the most important priorities for the manager of an area housing team? How would you make sure the members of your team are prepared to meet the challenges facing the Council as a landlord?’
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle are essential requirements of this post.
As part of the wider Community Housing Service, to lead on the local delivery of front line housing management services and housing advice to tenants, tenant/resident groups or their representatives and manage a team of Community Housing Officers for a designated area, in accordance with Council’s legal and statutory obligations, policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Educated to HND in Housing or Level 4 Diploma, HomePoint accreditation Level 2 and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.
A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential requirements of this post.
This post involves accessing the public services network, therefore the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS). The preferred candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure provided by Disclosure Scotland prior to a formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
