Social Care Officer
Based in the Mackinnon Service, which is a social work service that provides a skill and respite service for adults with a physical disability, long term condition or sensory impairment. You will work part time, 30 hours per week.
You must have or be willing to obtain SVQ2 in care. You will have 3 standard grades at level 3 or above.
You will be expected to actively participate as part of a team supporting service users to achieve their personal outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to use your own initiative and work confidently in order to ensure service users are fully supported. Duties will also involve the provision of personal care, encouraging independence and administering medication and supporting choice and dignity at all times. This range of duties is aimed at creating a supportive and relaxed atmosphere where service users can achieve maximum independence.
You will have experience in the caring field, have good written and verbal communication and moving and handling skills, and be able to work as part of a team. You must be flexible and show initiative. You must be able to work shifts and at weekends, be available to work at short notice and be able to work away from home at night. You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale. This post is considered regulated work with adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
