Claims Handler Marine Claims Cardiff

Marine Claims Handling Specialist

Full Time Permanent

Competitive salary, plus excellent benefits and study support

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented domestic or commercial claims handler to specialize in a more challenging, technical role, negotiating and settling pleasurecraft, cargo and international household removal claims for our growing portfolio of Lloyds, Company and International clients.

Working within a team of experienced marine claims handlers and technicians, you`ll assist in the investigation and settlement of claims for pleasurecraft and goods being shipped all over the world by road, sea and air and also for property stored in warehouses in Europe and America. You will also investigate some liability claims.

This role would really suit someone who enjoys negotiation with policyholders and claimants on domestic or commercial claims and who has a desire to help all parties to a fast and fair settlement. Marine claims experience would be advantageous but is not essential as full training, encouragement and support is on offer for the right candidate.

You will have:

Solid experience of negotiating domestic or commercial claims.

An eye for important detail and the ability to filter out the unimportant.

Superb communications skills, both oral and written.

The ability to work on your own initiative and take ownership of your own caseload.

Understanding and empathy when required

Whether you are a loss adjuster or a technical expert or one of our many support staff who help to run our business, you will find variety and unique challenges on a day to day basis. Our teams are here to help people.

We help our clients by providing risk management advice, providing expertise on a particular claim or portfolio of claims, by providing solutions to claims issues and working towards claims resolution as quickly as possible. We help our colleagues. We are a collaborative, international business, so you may find yourself assisting a colleague on the other side of the world when they need additional resource or expertise during large events such as an earthquake, hurricane or extensive flooding.

You could find yourself in the office in the morning on a conference call to international colleagues and a couple of hours later, onsite with a client and other key stakeholders assessing the causes of a local major loss. A career with us will be varied and rewarding.

Learning and development:

Encouraging and supporting you to learn new skills or to gain professional or academic qualifications is important to us. The business we operate in is constantly evolving and we encourage our people to keep their skills and industry knowledge relevant and fresh, through on-the-job experience, sharing best practice with colleagues and through study.

Our learning and development offer is designed to help you to do your job well and build a successful career with us. In addition to providing excellent learning opportunities in-house, we also support you to gain relevant external qualifications. We provide a comprehensive funding and support package to cover the cost of subscriptions, course and examination fees, study leave and books.

You'll also find it satisfying knowing that you are part of a business that provides customers with the best possible advice, excellent customer service and fair and efficient claims handling, especially when they need it the most
