Graduate Electronics Design Engineer, GBP26k - GBP34k, Cambridge
We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic Graduate Electronics Engineer to work for a world leading Scientific Instrumentation company based in Cambridge. This is a superb opportunity for a recently graduated Electronics Engineer (or maybe Electronics graduate plus a years' experience) to design control systems for a range of highly complex special purpose machinery. You will be working in a recently built cutting edge lab / R&D facility on varied projects designing machines that sell for around GBP2million EACH! The Graduate Electronics Engineer will be given a real chance to grow and strengthen your skills with on-going training with a view to achieving CEng. In addition to circuit level electronics design you will work on all elements of the control systems such as electro-mechanical actuators, PLCs, servo drives etc. Applicants will need at least a 2.1 BEng/MEng and have gained some industry experience though maybe a placement or summer internship during their degree.
Responsibilities:
* Circuit level Electronics design -mainly Digital Design with some embedded software and occasional analogue (sensors and power electronics) to control the scientific instruments.
* The design, build, test and proving of prototypes
* Under the guidance of senior engineers contribute to wider engineering development projects.
* Projects are conducted at both group and local levels so occasional travel to Europe and Far East is possible.
Requirements of Graduate Electronics Design Engineer
* Good A-Levels (or equivalents) and 2.1/1st class BEng or MEng (or above) in Electronics Engineering from a world-class University.
* Appreciation of wider Engineering principles -eg Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering covering areas such as vacuum systems, pneumatics & gas actuator systems,
* Understanding of PLC type control & automation systems an advantage.
* Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Accurate, thorough, consistent, pro-active, assertive.
* Good communication skills
* Team player
