Job Description:

The Editorial Manager plays a key role in Ubiquity Press's success in journal and book publishing, including the management of a portfolio of products from our partner presses on the Ubiquity Partner Network ( ). The role includes delivering a high quality service as the publication platform grows, via training and supporting external Editors, ensuring a smooth and continuous flow of articles/books through peer review, maintaining quality standards and editorial policy, and promoting published content. The Editorial Manager is the central point of contact throughout the journal and book workflow, from the last stages of acquisition through peer-review and production until publication and post-publication review. Responsibilities JournalsSetup and maintain journalsTrain editors and authors to manage submission/peer-review/copyediting etcHost regular calls/meetings with editors; providing support, monitoring article processing, and planning journal developmentArrange journal/article promotion, in coordination with the journal editors BooksSet specifications for new book projects and provide authors with all relevant informationManage submissions through the peer review and editorial processesArrange the design of book coversSend books for post-publication review Press ManagementAct as first point of contact for assigned partner pressesProvide editorial support to press journals/book projects, when requiredAssist in the development of the partner press GeneralSet and maintain quality standards & editorial policyProduce reports as requiredCoordinate the production of book and journal marketing materialsContribute to monthly newsletters and general press promotional material Qualifications/Experience requiredExperience of journal and/or book publication; ideally in an editorial, online, environmentKnowledge of editorial processes and publication best practicesExperience of communicating with authors/editors, or established academicsExperience of setting up and leading projectsKnowledge of open access publishing Personal attributesProactive attitudeClear and confident communicatorExcellent time and workload managementPassionate about open accessTech- and online-savvy (inc social media)High standards and a great eye for detailHonesty and integrity held in high regard
