A unique opportunity for experienced Youth Work Leads to take responsibility for the delivery of the youth work programmes at Wirral Youth Zone, a new charity with a state-of-the-art building offering a wide range of activities and targeted services for young people.
Wirral Youth Zone is under construction in Birkenhead and is due to open in April 2017. Attracting young people from across the borough and beyond through its fantastic facilities, the Youth Zone is a registered charity and will provide positive activities and practical support, with the aim of enabling young people to make constructive use of their leisure time and raise their aspirations. The Youth Zone will be open seven nights a week, at weekends and during school holidays.
The Youth Work Leads will have lead responsibility for the delivery of the youth work programme at The Hive, ensuring all young people accessing the Youth Zone access fun, creative, active and developmental programmes. They will provide direct line management, leadership and support to the youth work delivery team including paid staff and volunteers.
Role 1- As Youth Work Lead, Senior Club you will work across all Youth Zone sessions and will have lead responsibility for the Senior Club offer to 13-19 year olds (up to 25 with a disability).
Role 2- As Youth Work Lead, Junior and Holiday club you will have lead responsibility for the Junior Club and Holiday Club offer to 8-12 year olds (up to 25 with a disability).
Each role will ensure that there is an exceptionally high quality offer focused on the needs of young people and in line with The Hive’s aspirations to provide young people with the best possible experiences and opportunities. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the delivery and inputting towards the strategic delivery plan for The Hive.
With substantial experience of youth work, you will:
- have successfully led a team to deliver services, possibly in challenging circumstances
- have a passion for supporting young people
- hold a professional qualification in youth work or equivalent skills and competence.
- have experience of programming a diverse range of activities for young people with good organisational and IT skills
- work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, with a considered and decisive approach, and strong interpersonal skills.
