University Biomedical Services (UBS) are seeking an experienced animal technician, with supervisory and training experience, for a new position based in Cambridge.

You will work alongside the Training Centre Manager, Named Training and
Competency Officers (NTCOs) and biofacility NACWOs from across UBS to develop practical training programmes for animal husbandry and regulated procedures, to be delivered to technicians and researchers, within UBS run facilities.

Your duties will include development and delivery of practical staff training programmes within the biofacilities, competency assessment of technicians and researchers, development and maintenance of accurate training records, as well as providing supervisory and animal husbandry support within facilities as required.

You will have a good level of general education and hold a Home Office Licence with successful completion of Home Office Licence module categories A-C.

You must have extensive experience of working in a designated establishment with laboratory animals including at supervisory level, and ideally will have completed an Institute of Animal Technology Level 3 qualification.

In particular you will have experience of aseptic surgical techniques as well as pre and post-operative care of animals.

An honest, conscientious approach, the ability to work to deadlines with attention to detail and the ability to carry out a number of versatile tasks are essential.
