ROLE DEFINITION

To carry out statutory homeless assessments for households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council’s business objectives and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To manage a caseload of homeless households, ensuring that all files, records and computer based data are maintained timeously and accurately at all times.
  • Tp provide a comprehensive Housing Options service in North Ayrshire
  • To carry out ssessments of homelessness in accordance with legislation, guidance and NAC policy. To make decisions on whether households are statutory homeless and advice households of the outcomes.
  • To assess the support and advice needs of households presenting as homeless and to identify the types of services and assistance they require.
  • To develop an individual case plan for each homeless client that specifies the types and nature of services to be delivered. To ensure that all necessary stakeholders are aware of their obligations in respect of the case plan and ensure handover as appropriate.
  • To ensure that temporary accommodation is arranged for those households who require and are eligible for this provision.
  • To liaise with colleagues to ensure that offers of permanent accommodation are appropriate and to provide or arrange for the provision of support to move.
  • To provide information for and participate in the homelessness appeals process as directed.

  • HNC/SVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equiv.
