Your new role

Public Health England is a unique and dynamic organisation that leads on public health on behalf of the government; this role is a Commercial specialist role within the central procurement team,. The Category Specialist will be responsible for ICT procurement and supplier relationship and contract management activities nationally. This role can be based nationally but travel to London will be essential.

This is a new and pivotal role within procurement, you will act as the lead for ICT Procurement based within the central team and will have a reporting line directly to the Deputy Head of Procurement - Corporate. The Category Specialist will be responsible for ICT commercial planning and providing strategic ICT procurement and contract management leadership and direction to a wide range or stakeholders across the business, this will include an ICT portfolio of procurement projects where high level skills and experience is required.

This is a hand's on role, managing a portfolio of high profile and complex major ICT procurement projects and contracts and working extensively across the business with a wide variety of stakeholders to improve ICT Contracts. The post holder will provide expert ICT procurement and contract management knowledge and skills to manage, maintain and develop ICT contracts that provide value for money, while minimizing service delivery risk

What you'll need to succeed

Public Health England are looking for driven and innovative individuals who have a desire to work at both a strategic and tactical level, throughout all stages of the procurement cycle, from shaping needs to understanding and shaping the market, then running effective and efficient procurements and leading on contract negotiations

For this role you will have previous experience of Procurement and Contract Management and will need to have experience of working within the IT Category. You can come from either a Public or a private sector background although knowledge of EU regulations would be a benefit.
