Independent Chair for South Ayrshires

Adoption and Permanency Panel (x 1) and

Fostering and Kinship Panel  (x1)


South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership became live in April 2015.  The Partnership provides a real opportunity to focus our improvement activity and deliver positive sustained outcomes for children and young people.  As part of our improvement agenda South Ayrshire is looking to appoint an external, independent Chair to support the development of new panel structure arrangements in permanency decision making for children and young people.

The Chair will be responsible for chairing Panel meetings, encouraging open and proactive discussion and accountability.  The Chair will work with Senior Managers to plan and develop the work of the panel and will support the Council’s vision to secure nurturing, positive permanent outcomes for children and young people within agreed timescales.

Applicants must have a robust knowledge and understanding of the Primary Legislation, values and principles that underpins the Local Authority’s work with Looked After Children.  Applicants will have excellent communication and negotiation skills; be committed to equality and diversity; and have a comprehensive understanding of the agency functions.

He or she must have experience of chairing complex meetings and demonstrated understanding of Fostering and Adoption regulations.

The fixed-term position is available until 31 March 2019 and comes with remuneration of £400 per panel (x 12) & 2 Business Meetings per year.
