Job Description

Work pattern: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday, Combination of Shifts 8:48 - 17:00 and 12:00 - 20:00), 52 weeks per year

Interview Date: Week commencing 13th November 2016

You will provide an effective Social Work Service to children and their families in line with Council policy and national standards.

You will be required to undertake Joint Investigative interviews  of child witnesses alongside Police Scotland colleagues with children who are victims of physical/sexual abuse or who have been significant witnesses in a crime.

You should preferably have 2years post qualifying experience in the field of children and families work. You will be required to carry out assessment of risk and promote planning of care for children to remain at home as far as possible.


A Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

You will have the ability to travel throughout Fife.

The pattern of working hours will be determined for individual remits and on occasions may include evenings and weekends.  There will be a requirement to attend meetings outwith normal working hours, when necessary, subject to service user and staff availability.

There will also be a requirement to attend outwith normal working hours for development, training, registration compliance etc when necessary.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.


You must contribute to the development of a high quality professional Children and Families Service.

Reduce levels of risk to service users and others are essential.

The Individual

You should have considerable experience in a relevant setting.

You will have knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols and experience of joint working to achieve common goals.
