Sous Chef - Norton St. Philip - BA2 7LH
The historic George Inn in Norton St Philip on the outskirts of Bath is looking for an experienced sous chef to support our head chef in this busy, fresh food business, part of The Wadworth managed house estate.
At Wadworth & Co Ltd we ensure that our pubs serve only the very best modern British food. We believe in creating bespoke menus using fresh, locally sourced products and making our dishes from scratch, within our own kitchens, to provide our customers with an excellent dining experience. Our chefs are hard at work to bring you the freshest, seasonal, responsibly sourced produce to create interesting and innovative menus in all of our pubs.
We are looking for candidates with a passion for customer service, and a vibrant personality to join the kitchen's management team. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
To be successful, you are expected to have a positive and inspiring attitude, good communication & leadership skills as well as a proven ability to work under pressure. A relevant qualification in food preparation at level 3 or above and food hygiene certification are also desirable.
Reporting to the Head Chef, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in maintaining high levels of hygiene and health and safety in the department and amongst all team members. You would also be responsible for the development of junior staff and ensuring high levels of food standards are achieved at all times. Knowledge of stock control, and operating the kitchen in line with company standards is also essential, as well as assisting the Head Chef in achieving gross profit. Specifically you will be expected to assist with all required tasks related with the running of the kitchen, including ordering, stock take, compilation of menus, weekly rotas etc.
The successful candidate will also be expected to deputize in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring smooth and efficient running of operations.
