Northumberland College has two main campuses at Ashington and Kirkley Hall and centres at Hexham and Berwick.

We offer hundreds of full-time and part-time courses, work with students aged 14-18, mature students, higher education students and employers from numerous industry sectors.

The School of Childhood, Health & Care offer popular and successful counselling training from Level 2 - 5 with counselling modules also featured in a number of other programmes. Due to the on-going growth of this provision, we currently have a sessional role available for a lecturer to teach counselling skills within our Berwick centre.

This role currently involves delivery of counselling provision one evening per week within our Berwick centre as well as supporting the course leader in the development, quality assurance and recruitment for counselling provision within the academy. Due to the on-going growth and development of our counselling & related provision further opportunities for teaching may also be available within and beyond our Berwick centre.

The successful applicant will have relevant vocational experience in health and social care specifically in a counselling context, counselling qualification to at least Level 3 ideally Dip HE or Foundation Degree as well as having successful teaching experience. You should also hold a Certificate in Education, PGCE or equivalent (or be working towards or prepared to work towards this). You will be contracted to undertake hours flexibly initially as above at our Berwick campus with future potential hours agreed in accordance with our developing provision and in line with learner recruitment at our Ashington & Berwick campuses.
