The Department of IT Services has recently restructured its operation to align to a lifecycle-based approach to service delivery comprising Service Planning & Governance, Service Design & Delivery, and Service Operation & Support. It is adopting a service culture based on ITIL best practice and has embarked on an ambitious and exciting portfolio of technology-enabled projects to support the University's 2020 Strategy.

About the role

This QlikView developer role is a full time, fixed term maternity cover post (1 year) in the Business Intelligence team within IT Services. This is an exciting time for the BI Team with several new projects and challenges on the horizon!

The BI team engages with stakeholders to determine the requirements for analysis and reporting, and devises the appropriate QlikView “Load Script” to extract the data from QVD, SQL Server Databases, and text / Excel files. The team implements a professional and engaging design to fulfil the user requirements in order to provide knowledge and insight to a wider audience.

Our QlikView applications are used across the organisation. We want to capitalize on this traction and encourage more users to gain an advantage through business insight. You will participate in user meetings and forums where you will engage with stakeholders from this and other universities to identify new ideas and best practice.

There are opportunities to be involved in many projects across the organisation, as will as working towards a best practice approach to QlikView application development.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic QlikView developer with excellent communication skills, strong technical skills and a sense of design. You will possess a proven track record for delivering attractive, easy to use, insightful QlikView applications through the use of best practice.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills will be a significant benefit in this role. The data for our QlikView applications typically comes from our Enterprise and Learning and Teaching systems - Finance, HR, Payroll, Student Records. You will assimilate additional data from a variety of sources into these standard data models to enhance analysis and provide better insight. Your strong technical skills (ETL, SQL) will enable you to provide excellent support and technical advice to those identifying their requirements or using QlikView applications.

You will advocate and promote the use of these applications amongst staff offering support and training where appropriate.
