Bootham School is a coeducational day and boarding school for about 620 students from 3 to 18 situated on two sites in the city of York. The senior school (11 – 18) occupies 10 acres in the heart of the city; Bootham Junior School is just over a mile away, on another 10 acre site which also includes playing fields. Bootham is a Quaker foundation. ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

29.5 hours weekly inc Saturday morning. Term time only

This is a new post in the busy school office at Bootham senior school to assist the school secretary with a variety of administrative tasks, including answering the ‘phone, dealing with queries and covering reception, taking accurate notes at morning staff briefing and distributing them, administration relating to school trips and admin relating to Registration on a Saturday morning.

We are looking for a team player with a high standard of written English and five GCSEs or equivalent, at grade C or above, including English, with excellent customer service skills and telephone manner.

You must have good working experience of Microsoft packages, be qualified to ECDL or equivalent standard, with recent database experience preferably gained in a school or similar environment. You must be to communicate effectively and appropriately with both young people and adults and be able to handle many different tasks calmly and efficiently.

This position is part-time, term-time only. The working hours are 29.5 hours per week: Monday to Friday 8.20 to 14.20 (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break), plus 2 hours on a Saturday morning from 8.45am.
