A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Chemist to join a road safety company based in Chorley. You’ll be met with a generous salary as well as a pension scheme and private medical insurance.

Due to the nature of this role, international travel may be required to support activities of the technical department so candidates must be flexible to this.

Position Summary
As Project Chemist you’ll be responsible for developing road markings and road surface treatments.
Additional responsibilities will include:
• Providing technical support and technical advice relating to company products and use
• Control quality and performance of company products at factory through effective management of raw material selection, formulation of products and method of manufacture
• Management of technical service and development activities to ensure effective and rapid turn-around of tasks
• Study current technical literature and attend meetings, symposia, etc. as may be required by the work
• Carry out required tasks while respecting the health, safety and wellbeing of company staff and minimising impact on the environment
• Liaising with group health and safety department to ensure compliance with company safety procedures
• Travel (including overseas travel) may be required to support activities of the technical department

What you will need;
The successful candidate will hold the required skills and experience to thrive within this role including;
• Qualified in Materials Science, higher post grad qualification and a HS&E trained candidate is essential
• Previous experience in planning / programming activities, project management and management within a laboratory environment is essential
• A thorough understanding of project management and product development - material technology: hot melts, sealants, coatings, adhesives and related materials
• Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be physically fit and able
• Flexible to travel when required
• Full driving licence
• Good time management skills – methodical approach to planning and delivering tasks
• Suitable skills or experience may include: Project Chemist, Laboratory Technician, Chemistry, Quality Control, QC, Analyst or Lab Technician
