At Look Ahead Care and Support our Support Workers are the people our customers can rely on, the people who take the time to listen and always go the extra mile to help. So when you join us, you could find yourself providing a whole range of physical, domestic, emotional and social care as you take personal responsibility for a case-load of customers. You’ll help them to develop the all-important life skills that meet their assessed needs.

As a Floating Support Worker, you’ll work in the community to support service users who may be experiencing difficulties sustaining their tenancies independently – perhaps through anti-social behaviour or rent arrears - or who need help to settle into a new home. This involves a holistic approach that might include support with maximising income, accessing benefits, setting up utilities, liaising with statutory agencies or attending court. Customers may also have other support needs such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, learning difficulties, offending backgrounds or mental/physical health needs.

Across North Surrey we offer generic floating support services including tenancy support to residents of Runnymede, Elmbridge and Spelthorne. The service has six members of staff with a service capacity of 76 customers. As an organisation Look Ahead works with many thousands of different people who have an equally diverse range of needs, helping them to make their own choices, achieve their own goals and take control of their own lives. Right across London and the South East, we’re building on 40 years of achievements and partnerships to take the lead in social care – providing high quality care, support and housing services we would be proud for our loved ones to receive.

We’re looking for passionate, dedicated people to join us at this exciting time. We need people who are committed to achieving excellence in everything they do - always asking ‘how could we do this better?’ People who believe in every customer’s potential and aspire to identify, nurture and develop it; people who understand that customers, colleagues, stakeholders and commissioners can work in partnership as one team to make positive changes to lives and communities. We are seeking people who can be trusted to do what they promise to do and speak up if something’s not right.

In particular, you must be able to develop trusting professional relationships while working on your own initiative, managing your own time and prioritising a busy case-load. You should have a desire to help people achieve their goals through effective support planning, access to all available opportunities, and by building on their strengths, interests and aspirations. Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing, although not essential, would be preferred, and a car and current full UK driving licence are required.

If you can go the extra mile for your customers, you’ll go far yourself at Look Ahead. As well as highly attractive pay rates, you can expect comprehensive benefits including an excellent pension scheme, 25 days holiday, and a huge range of learning and career development opportunities.
