Job summary:

* To lead a team of Project Managers in the delivery of projects from inception through to implementation.
* To undertake Project Management activities to deliver complex change across the Business, with emphasis upon and sensitivity towards the organisational structure, commercial approach, culture, people and processes.
* Engage with project stakeholders to define and agree the project objectives and ensure delivery in accordance with Cost, quality, scope, time criteria and applying governance and control in line with the set standards within Change Management Services.

Main duties for this role will involve the following:

* Proactively manage project work in accordance with the project lifecycle and overarching Change Management Services (CMS) processes, ensuring smooth transition of change through to business as usual.
* Implement appropriate project governance standards within the project and ensure all project controls and documentation is completed.
* Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to define project goals, scope and deliverables, which support the strategy and vision of the business.
* Effectively communicate project objectives and deliverables to team members to ensure expectations are clear from the start.
* Perform regular 121's and performance reviews for direct reports.
* Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
* Document and refine the project Business Case as necessary for submission, ensuring it is reviewed and updated as appropriate throughout the project lifecycle.
* Facilitate the capture of project requirements through engagement with the Business and Business Analyst community.

Other duties:

* Ensure project steering committees are in place and are held at regular intervals.
* Ensure overall project reporting is completed to agreed timelines and Business Sponsors are updated regularly.
* Develop detailed project plans in accordance with CMS standards, to include milestones and allocated resource. Track and manage project dependencies against the critical path.
* Estimate and agree resource requirements for the full length of the project lifecycle.
* Manage, control and report project finances within the set budget. Submitting budget requests and recommendations to project spend where necessary.
* Manage project expectations with team members and proactively escalate to senior leaders and stakeholders when required.
* Ensure the projects Risk, Assumption, Issues and Dependency (RAIDs) process is in place with all RAID's owned and tracked appropriately.
* Proactively manage changes in project scope following a standard change control process. Ensure the appropriate contingency plans are in place.

Main competencies and background required:

* Exceptional communication and presentation skills. Highly competent at negotiation and being able to converse with all levels of stakeholders. Have strong interpersonal and people skills.
* Ability to work under own initiative, making well informed decisions and collaboratively in a team oriented environment. Influence others to be accountable for project activities and understand the bigger picture.
* Strong MS Project, PowerPoint and Excel skills. High level of planning and organisational skills, with a focus on delivering project activities to time, cost and scope.

Knowledge and Qualifications for this role:

* Ideally 10 years in a change or project management environment, successfully delivering projects.
* Experience of delivering at an advanced level all aspects of the project lifecycle; working closely with technical specialists and implementation teams at multiple sites in the UK and globally.
* Experience of managing third party suppliers and resources is essential.
* Experience of delivery of complex new/enhanced customer propositions and operating model change is desirable.
* Ideally from a Life Insurance background, although other areas of Insurance will also be considered.
* A recognised Project, Programme, PMO or Portfolio qualification e.g. Prince 2 Practioner, P30, APMP.
