Duration: Part Time 18.5 hours per week, Fixed Term for up to 52 weeks
Aberdeen City Council has recently modernised the way it delivers its in-house legal service which provides legal and commercial advice to the Council and public sector partners. Aberdeen City Council is one of Scotland’s largest councils and this is an exciting time to work for Legal Services where successful applicants will have the opportunity of being at the heart of some of Scotland’s most exciting projects including the delivery of the City Region Deal and the new Aberdeen Exhibition Conference Centre.
We currently have fixed term maternity cover vacancy (for up to 52 weeks) for a Paralegal in our Governance Team.
Governance – This team provides legal advice and support in the areas of Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Trust and Charity Law, State Aid, Surveillance Law, and advising a variety of committees and panels.
To provide paralegal support in respect of areas of law advised upon by either the Property, the Planning and Environment, the Governance, the Litigation or the Licensing Team.
To provide a right first time customer and solution focused service based on the principles of continuous improvement, professionalism, integrity and best value.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
One of the following
Relevant law degree including LLB, Law and Management, Law and Business or Public Administration or equivalent
Specialist Paralegal qualification in a relevant discipline
Graduate Diploma in Law
Graduate Certificate in Law in a relevant discipline
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
Effective Team work and working on their own initiative
Strong organisational skills
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritise, work to deadlines, and manage a number of matters concurrently
Adaptability to the changing priorities and working practices of the Service and the Council as a whole
