Day Centre Officer (MOR01703)
To act as a member of the staff team to provide care and support to individuals with learning disabilities. To take a lead role in developing, implementing and reviewing service user care plans.
To develop a wide range of therapeutic and social activities.
To develop, maintain and review service user care plans in conjunction with the care team and other agencies/services, acting as key worker when appropriate.
To promote independence and develop skills of service users.
To ensure good working practice with regard to health & safety, fire safety and food hygiene.
Previous experience of working with people with disabilities.
HNC + SVQIII in Health & Social Care (Adults)
Effective literacy and numeracy skills.
Effective observational skills.
Creative ability and approach.
Effective organisational, time management and written skills in order to accurately record information .
Approachable, enthusiastic and appropriately assertive.
Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviour.
Knowledge of SSSC Codes of Practice and evidence of understanding/application in relevant work setting.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to use own initiative/self motivation.
Able to understand & communicate clearly using the English language.
Ability to carry out duties that involve a significant amount of moving and handling, using hoists and other lifting aids in accordance with moving and handling regulations.
Ability to support service users with physical activities, e.g. swimming.
