Moving and Handling Adviser (FIF05422)
Working Pattern: 18 hours hours per week, 52 weeks per year (Monday-Friday,variable/flexible working) (working pattern to be agreed)

As part of a team of moving and handling professionals, you will support the design, development and implementation of delegated activities and projects that contribute to an effective moving and handling strategy for the Health and Social Care Services and Education and Children Services Directorates.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.
Minimum requirement is a professional qualification at SCQF Level 8 or equivalent in a related discipline (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Nursing, Physiotherapist).Hyperlink to the SCQF Framework www.scqf.org.uk/framework-diagram
Significant experience in the moving and handling (of people) field, including experience in policy development and working with managers and staff to advise on solutions to a range of complex people moving and handling situations and practical experience in moving and handling techniques and operation of equipment. It is also advantageous if the postholder has direct experience with working with children with complex needs.
You will be responsible for contributing to the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of allocated projects and initiatives in support of the organisations Moving and Handling (People) Strategy.
Working alongside colleagues from across the Health and Social Care Services, and Education and Children’s Services Directorates (including those holding senior management positions), you will play an important role in helping to drive best practice. Your responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of the moving and handling strategy and leading on the development and delivery of projects to agreed specification within defined timescales.
As a Moving and Handling Adviser, you will be required to provide specific expertise, advice and guidance in complex moving and handling situations and complete accurate written risk assessments for complex moving and handling cases. You will demonstrate the proper use of moving and handling techniques and equipment.
You will also provide professional support and leadership to a team of Keytrainers and Linkworkers within the service areas in relation to delegated moving and handling activities.
You will be a skilled and well-informed practitioner with significant experience in the moving and handling of people field. Confident in undertaking complex moving and handling risk assessments across a variety of people handling situations, and providing competent advice at organisational and local level on risk management solutions. You will be experienced in developing and delivering education programmes based on assessed need. You will have an up to date knowledge of research and developments within the moving and handling of people field and sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
You will be adaptable, flexible, responsive and solution-focussed in your approach and have experience of delivering projects and activities within defined timescales. You will be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and proactive in the management and priority of your workload. In addition you will possess good IT and presentational skills.
