Young Persons Assistant - Ref: RS100461
We provide medium term accommodation for young people supporting them to develop the skills to manage and maintain a future housing tenancy. Looking to the future, we support young people to focus on their development through budgeting, cooking, bill paying, employability and health support.
We are developing our community outreach for young people leaving the project and gaining a new tenancy providing a supportive role to Young Person's Practitioner through practical care and support interventions to service users aged 16-21 living at the project. This role is on a four week rolling rota which involves nightshift working during this time in which you will be lone working with an on call system in operation during this time in case of emergencies. You will not hold a caseload of young people but the role is often the first point of contact for young people when difficulties may arise. The Young Persons Assistant is required to effectively support young people with practical tasks such as room cleaning and managing any safeguarding concerns whilst lone working. The role also requires a level of cleaning and managing the health and safety aspects of the project. It is imperative that the worker can effectively manage the unit on their own during the waking night shift and also engage positively with young people, diffuse any challenging situations and help them to resolve some problems through early intervention until further support can be provided by the Young Persons Practitioner. You will also be expected to carry out further duties as requested by the YPP to support young people to attend external appointments.
What you'll need:
- SVQ 2 health and social care / housing related issues.
- Ability to work within a rota system which requires lone night shift working.
- Honest and reliable.
- Strong work ethic and values.
