Flame Health Jobs - Superintendent Radiographer - Croydon, Greater London
Our client have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Radiographer to join a dedicated team at their unit in Croydon. As a superintendent you will have clinical and leadership responsibility and deliver a service that is aligned to contractual and governance requirements. You will undertake modality specific imaging procedures to deliver an efficient imaging service.
To be considered for this role you must have a BSc in Radiography, be HPC registered and have experience with MRI and CT. As this is a superintendent role you will have experience managing a team and training and developing clinic colleagues.
Overall Purpose of the Job
To have clinical and leadership responsibility, to operate in accordance with local and company policies and to deliver a service that is aligned to contractual and governance requirements. To undertake modality specific imaging procedures providing, maintaining and continually developing an efficient imaging service, optimising patient care.

Key Result Areas and Specific Duties
- Clinical/technical
- Undertake and manage imaging procedures in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (IRMER2000, IRR 99, ARSAC)
- Protocol the patient referrals in line with the departmental guidelines
- Run Quality Assurance checks on equipment, and action as appropriate
- Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and to ensure patients' views are sought and taken into account
Safety and Protocol
- Understand and adhere to the company Health and Safety Policy
- Demonstrate safe, effective practice in line with the company policies and procedures
- Review and develop modality specific protocols, in line with requirements, to support the service
- Be involved with Health & Safety risk assessments within the PETCT site
- Take an active role in the resolution of any items identified in the quality audits
Administrative
- Identify process improvements and be actively involved in policy development to enhance the service
- Ensure Patient Information Systems are maintained with accurate and up to date information and that all daily returns are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure the security and upkeep of all relevant patient records
Training and Development
- Maintain professional competencies and CPD
- Assist colleagues in the achievement of their learning outcomes
- Share knowledge and clinical expertise
- Take ownership and fulfill the requirements of any required Statutory and Mandatory training
Leadership
- Monitor adherence and compliance to all operational procedures and policies as outlined by the company escalating any concerns to the Regional Operations Manager
- Conduct appraisals gaining feedback from other relevant members of staff
- Deal with day to day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions where required to resolve the queries within a reasonable timeframe
- Ensure good communication is maintained with the team to deliver a smooth running service
- Supervise the work of non clinical colleagues
General
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, customer care, and service provision ensuring that issues are comprehensively investigated and resolved
- Adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act
- Ensure the smooth flow of clinical and administrative work
- Effectively communicate and appropriately respond to all visitors
- Monitor essential stocks and re-order as required
- Order FDG for PET CT South sites
- Deputise for the Regional Operations Managers as and when required
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Comply with ISO standards in respect of Information Security Management
- Be involved with the promotion and development of the PET CT service
- This may involve presentations and quality meetings at new and existing sites with relevant support
- Set standards for quality of service delivered in conjunction with the Regional Operations Manager
- Ensure that issues which affect efficient operation are resolved or escalated to the Regional Operations Manager
- Assist the Regional Operations Manager with staffing & logistics and deputise in the running of the PET CT modality in their absence as and when necessary
There will be allocated time for administrative duties, but clinical duties are a priority. This is not a restrictive list of duties and you may be required to carry out additional tasks within their capability. All members of staff are required to participate in appraisals, self development, mandatory and statutory training.

Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in chosen field

- Experience in training and development of clinical staff
- Working within a hospital or mobile environment

- Experience working with Imaging Equipment
- Working with information systems including Cambio Cosmic
- Interest and proven track record in self development and CPD
Qualifications and Special Training
- BSc Radiography or equivalent
- Member of an appropriate professional body with a valid registration
Desirable:
- PG Cert, MSc or equivalent
- Recognized teaching qualification
