Job Description:

Job Description for Assessor/ Trainer Assessor /Trainer Role: • Ensure Learner completes sign up/application packs and associated documentation. • Identify learning style/needs, so that the appropriate level of support can be put in place. • Complete all learner paperwork required for funding bodies at the intervals required. • Induct the Learners to qualification structure, appeals process, centre paperwork and policies and procedures • Complete Skills Scan and Individual Learning Plan with Learner and continually review and update. • Show Learner the Centre's Portfolio Structure • Obtain Background Information i.e. CV, Job Description, job profile and complete GLH record for each interaction that you have with the learner i.e. meetings, telephone calls, e-mail, cancelled appointments etc. • Obtain Prior Learning Certificates, copy originals, validate copy and ask Learner to provide a short statement to you and complete on the appropriate paperwork to authenticate the course • Ensure HSC learners have a copy of General Social Care Code of Practice • Ensure HSC learners have completed Skills for Care foundation training or similar in line with National Minimum Care Standards - 12-week deadline, if not refer to Lead IV • Agree Assessment Plans identifying Evidence Sources • Review, Plan and Feedback your Judgements of Evidence Sources • Make learner aware of the range of assessment methods to be used • Support Learner to track and log evidence • Undertake holistic observation and assessment of evidence sources/types • Observe Work Product and document accordingly • Provide continuity of assessment throughout the Award • Sign off individual units as they are completed. • Complete claims to competences at the end of the programme and ensure portfolio is ready for sampling. • Complete Learner Feedback and Evaluation Form on completion of their qualification • Conduct exit interview with learner giving appropriate advice and support regarding progression. Where appropriate refer to job centre or other training programmes. • Always ensure you discuss with the Learner their next development step and document this accordingly on the final evaluation. Responsibilities: • To be vocationally competent by knowledge and competence in all of the qualifications which you are assessing, and continually update your knowledge and competence by attending training, courses, seminars and meetings as appropriate. All employees are required to read the Common Standards• Meet self-development requirements for continuously improving their performance and maintain and update their CPD records. • To provide candidates/learners with an accurate, independent assessment through the whole range of assessment methods. • Teaching the Functional Skills/ Technical Certificate • Create appropriate lesson/ training plans • Encourage use of technology for presentation and recording of evidence • To liaise with the Internal Verifier on the assessment process. • To be available as required for inspections/observation by funders and other external bodies • To contribute to staff and management liaison processes as appropriate. • To seek support and guidance from the Internal Quality Adviser for clarity on assessment matters. • To maintain appropriate records and documentation. • To be familiar with the Common Inspection Framework • Such other duties as are consistent with this specification, including the availability to attend team and standardisation meetings. Main Performance Criteria • Provision of a professional assessment service to learners. • Effective working relationships with learners, staff and management. • Accurate maintenance and communication of records and assessment decisions to assessment team and learner. • Ensure retention levels are kept to a minimum and below the target percentage • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. • A commitment to contributing to and maintaining quality service delivery at all times. • To ensure that special assessment needs of learners are taken into consideration in the assessment process. • To encourage and support learners to achieve their chosen award, utilising advisory support and monitoring progress for those learners not yet competent. Documentation • Support the learner to use the correct documentation if they are using a paper-based portfolio. • Agree an assessment plan or development plan with the learner, and ensure it's signed, dated and regularly reviewed. • At the end of an assessment of the learner, complete and sign and date all relevant documentation. • Keeping learner tracker up to date and working towards timely completion • Complete reviews, visit reports and any other monitoring documentation which is required • Ensure that whereabouts are accurately recorded and updated on the centres calendar to include time, learner name and location. • Records of questions and the answers must be included as evidence in the portfolio. • Accreditation of Prior Learning of a candidate, complete the APL document recording your decision and include certified copies of any certificates. • Where competence has been achieved to log/record on the evidence reference sheet. • When the learner has completed a unit of competence, it should be signed off and presented for internal verification at the next sampling meeting. • Assessors must ensure that all Awarding Body documentation is correctly completed and submitted to Centre Co-ordinator in line with Awarding Body documentation. • Any other documentation that may be required KEY TARGETS ~ (against which performance is measured) • Meeting all submission deadlines for paperwork • 2% Error rate on paperwork- missing information • 90% Retention rate of learners allocated • Full compliance of regulatory bodies specifications • Compliance with completion dates and meeting all requirements • Attendance annually of 10 out of 12 monthly team meetings • Attendance annually of 3 out of 4 standardisation meetings • And any other targets that may be required from time to time
