Job Description:

Responsible to: Chairs and Trustees at PHASCA Location: Chestnuts Community Centre, 280 St Ann's Road, London N15 5BN Hours: To be agreed Purpose of the Role: We need a Volunteer Bid Writer to help us bid for trust and grant money. You will be the main point of contact and will focus on developing relationships with key supporters who can donate high value gifts. You will also assist with preparing funding bids and proposals. PHASCA is a charity based in Tottenham which provides community services such as a homework club, parents' forum, summer sports, activities for older people, counselling and much more! PHASCA was established by health service workers in 1999 and has become a hugely successful advocate and provider of counselling and youth programmes in Haringey. A multi-disciplinary team of specialists has been established, committed to the well-being of the community. Specific tasks:Motivating and facilitating supporters to maximise the funds they raiseInspiring new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supportersOrganising traditional activities, such as sponsored outdoor events and house-to-house collections of donated goods and moneyDeveloping new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which involve organising events;Raising awareness of the charity and its workDeveloping and coordinating web-based fundraising, online auctions and merchandise sales;Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity's aims and activities;Developing and implementing a strategy for individual and corporate supporter recruitment and developmentOverseeing corporate fundraising, including employee giving and matched giving from employersManaging and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information;Writing applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a range of potential and current donorsMaking risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success Relevant Skills and Qualities: You need to show:Commitment to the cause of the charityThe ability to build and maintain relationships - a crucial skill in all areas of fundraisingCreativity, imagination and an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraisingA proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusionThe ability to influence others with excellent oral and written communication skillsThe capability to work under pressure and meet deadlinesThe ability to meet financial targetsGood organisational skillsThe ability to motivate others and work as part of a teamResilience, particularly when faced with setbacksSensitivity to the needs of donors A willingness to carry out a range of administrative tasksThe ability to think logicallyA strong customer focusThe ability to prioritise your workload;Attention to detail Benefits to Volunteer:Develop skills, knowledge and experienceOngoing support and supervisionCV developmentEmployment reference Expenses:Volunteers will be reimbursed reasonable out of pocket expenses in line with PHASCA's volunteering policy Application Procedure:You will need to complete an application form and meet with the co-ordinator for an informal chat about the role
