Maintenance Fitter - Shift Pattern
A small to medium sized plant, forms a part of a large global organization is recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Fitter to join their Stowmarket engineering team.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to:-
- Maintain and repair all of the manufacturing plant and its associated equipment to a high standard of workmanship, through scheduled inspections, preventative works, and in response to breakdowns.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in gathering and maintaining accurate and up to date information on plant equipment and infrastructure, the preventative maintenance system and other engineering documentation, as and when required.
- Participate in activities which promote safety, such as global Significant Risk reviews, developing or reviewing maintenance procedures, risk assessment, training, safe systems of work (Permits to Work, Lock out, tag out, and working at height).
- To record work done, time spent and materials used via the systems which are currently provided, such as SAP, timesheets and maintenance schedules.
Essential Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role in heavy engineering environment
- Electrical Experience (i.e. low/medium voltage control power systems)
- Mechanical Fitting expertise (i.e. bearings, electric motors, drives etc.)
- Competency in welding & fabrication in heavy steel sections/plates, repairs, gas cutting, using manual metal arc, MIG welding.
- City and Guilds, NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of education in an engineering field
- Ability to communicate (read, write and speak) in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, work related instructions, directions, safety & environmental policies and procedures, SOP's, product specifications and applicable safety standards.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklift, crane and hoist.
- Ability and willingness to comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Basic experience in the use of IT systems (such as MS Office applications)
Criteria/Conditions:
Work is performed in a production plant environment which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk hear and see.
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.
Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, steel-toe boots, other protective equipment as required.
The shift Maintenance Fitter will normally work Monday to Friday rotating shift pattern, with the following hours:
5:45-14:15 & 13:45-22:15.
