The Team

The London tax team is an integral part of Baker & McKenzie's global tax practice of over 900 tax professionals around the world with whom we work very regularly and closely. No other law firm is able to provide global tax solutions for its multinational clients as we are able to.

Our combination of Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, Customs & Trade, Employee Benefits and Wealth Management specialists across the globe work closely together to provide an incredibly broad tax service. The work is high-value, international and technical in nature. We act for a diverse range of clients in the corporate and financial arena such as multinational corporates, financial institutions and private equity houses along with clients within a wide range of sectors, including high technology, media, telecoms, energy, mining, oil and gas, chemicals, construction, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

In particular, we are market leaders in:

IP Structuring and Restructuring
Supply -Chain Structuring and Restructurings
Business Transformations
M&A / Joint-Venture Transactions
Debt Structuring and Restructuring
Tax Disputes

This is a team with ambitious growth plans, so this is a role that will allow you to develop your skills and progress your career. There will also be the opportunity for you to provide input in the overall strategy of the Tax practice and to be actively involved in business development.

We have a different mindset being a mix of lawyers, tax Advisors, economists and accountants. We work as a cohesive team across these disciplines in both the London office and globally. We have the ability to advise on both legal and tax issues in a coordinated fashion.

We combine an extremely high level of Corporate Tax expertise with a collegiate culture that focuses on delivering clear, commercial and pragmatic advice.

The Role

We are looking for a Tax Advisor, ideally a qualified lawyer or a chartered accountant with excellent Corporate Tax experience gained from a Firm with a strong reputation in this field. Ideally the candidate will already have strong international tax planning expertise.

In this role, you will be given the opportunity to work as part of a team on a very wide range of both domestic and international tax projects. Having both a strong transactional practice, as well as a highly regarded tax planning team, the role will involve a mix of transactional and advisory work and will suit a person who has a broad range of experience in all areas of corporate tax.

Given our emphasis on client service, the ability to provide clear advice while having a strong understanding of the commercial context in which that advice is given is of paramount importance.

All of our team play an important role in business development and you will be expected to be involved in developing and executing our business development strategy.

Skills and Experience Required

Graduate - degree educated or comparable (minimum 2:1)
Qualified solicitor or chartered accountant
Excellent technical abilities and development potential
Proactive and flexible, with an emphasis on reliability, responsiveness and delivery
First class communicator - both strong verbally and orally - and able to develop relationships with key internal stakeholders and clients with ease.
Strong team player with a "client first" mentality.
A strong interest in business development.
Respects and enjoys the diversity of cultural, social and academic backgrounds found in the Firm
