My client is associated with some of the world's most respected, fully
integrated infrastructure and transportation projects. From feasibility
studies, assessments and research, through planning and negotiations, to
construction and operations, my client provides unparalleled experience in
this sector. They design a variety of bridges and highways in urban and
rural, commercial, industrial, educational and residential contexts, together
with landmark buildings for airports and railway stations.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, undertake, coordinate, and manage technical work on bids and
projects
* Perform complex analysis using computer modelling: making,
reading, and interpreting technical material
* Undertake project research including surveys and inspections
* Provide guidance, instruct, motivate, and manage others in the
preparation of project deliverables
* Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and more
efficient ways of working
* Apply and promote policies relating to health and safety, quality, and
training
In addition at Senior Engineer level:
* Take a Project Manager role for single discipline projects and
represent the company at external client meetings
* Prepare bid and contract information
* Mentor and develop others to achieve professional qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Experience in the design/assessment of bridges and other highway
and/or rail structures
* Sound knowledge of DMRB standards and Eurocodes
* Ability to organise and conduct several activities simultaneously
* Knowledge of relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions
* Ability to communicate clearly material of a specialist or highly
technical nature
* Ability to work independently
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience from a multi-disciplinary environment, working on
D&B/ECI contracts
* Experience of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and steel
* Capabilities in leading design teams
* International experience
* Good skills in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software
* Experience of financial management
Education and Professional Qualifications:
* Good degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) ideally with Civil
Engineering MEng
* At Senior Engineer level preferably a Chartered Engineer, or will have
gained sufficient experience to obtain full membership of an
appropriate professional institution
Personal Qualities:
* Flexible attitude, adaptable to an environment with frequently
changing demands
* Committed to meeting challenging deadlines
* Ability to work as part of a project team
* Willing to develop both professionally and personally with a
inclination to widen knowledge, skills and experience
* Interest in UK and international assignments
