Mortgage Customer Service Role

Location: Spondon, Derby

Salary: Depending on experience

The company is one of the leading specialist mortgage websites in the UK, visited by thousands of customers each day who are in real need of help with mortgages and other finance. This may be because they have adverse credit, are self-employed, or want to do something unique and are struggling to find a lender to help. Our role, amongst other things, is to match each customer with a highly trained specialist to suit them, who then finds them the finance they need (visit our website / view our videos for more info).

The role

We are looking for a conscientious and motivated individual to join our growing and vibrant team.

The successful applicant will work closely with the head administrator and our partner companies to support the day to day running of our online business, specialising in sales, customer service, and mortgage criteria to effectively handle customers that come to us for help.

This is not your average job – The successful candidate will be given full training and support to become a key member of the team, and will have the opportunity to own certain tasks within the business for which they will take responsibility.  They will develop the essential skills required to succeed in customer service, and will quickly gain a solid understanding of the mortgage industry.

The role is primarily based around speaking to customers on the telephone who have made an inbound enquiry, so only those with confidence to talk to and help customers on a daily basis need apply.

The starting wage will be dependent on experience, with regular performance reviews. Hours of work will be shift based on a 3 week rota. 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm & 11am-7pm with a 9am-5pm every other Saturday based in the offices at Spondon, Derby.

Essential skills required for the Mortgage Customer Service Role:

  • Excellent English, in both speaking and writing (spelling & grammar)
  • Well-spoken and confident phone manner
  • Ability to work independently on given tasks
  • Confidence in taking ownership and responsibility over certain tasks within the business
  • Have proficient IT skills, using standard Microsoft packages
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • A willingness and drive to learn
  • A friendly nature and desire to help customers and colleagues alike

Not essential (preferred) skills/experience for the Mortgage Customer Service Role:

  • Previous experience within a customer service environment
  • Previous experience of working within a mortgage packaging company or brokerage
