Our client provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

The Trust has a specialist education college for students aged 16 to 25 years with disabilities, complex needs and autism. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy are integral to facilitating students’ learning and removing barriers to learning. They have excellent specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory areas, rebound therapy and speech therapy rooms.

They are now looking to appoint a Lead Occupational Therapist to join them on a permanent, full time basis for 43 weeks per year.

Within the role, you will guide and lead the occupational therapy team to ensure delivery of high quality occupational therapy to students. This will take place through person centred assessment of therapeutic and equipment needs of students and provision of regular relevant training to the teaching and support staff team.

The successful candidate must hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and be a full member of the College of Occupational Therapist. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have experience of working with young people and/or adults with complex needs including learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Conditions.

HPCP registered, you will have extensive experience of working in a multi-disciplinary manner and of working in a range of clinical settings. You should be confident when leading a team and have good working knowledge of current theories and models of practice appropriate to occupational therapy and this role.

Candidates who are qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner are highly desirable however this is not essential.
