We’re now looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join us at our Nottingham site. You will be our focal point for Health & Safety best practice for the Group, providing advice, guidance, assistance, support and recommendations to ensure a process of continual improvement. It will be your responsibility to ensure Health & Safety compliance and standards are met and raised where possible to maintain a high standard of compliance across all Group functions.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Participating and leading in the development of a positive Health & Safety culture across the Group
• Focus on training and developing Health & Safety knowledge and awareness with the General Managers, Supervisors and cascading to other employees
• Carry out Health & Safety sampling and audits across our premises
• Ensuring full legal compliance is achieved and maintained
• Monitoring & keeping under review our Health & Safety policy, processes and procedures, making recommendations of change in light of any accidents, legal requirements or changes in work place practices
• Prohibiting any works where in your opinion there is any possible or imminent risks of personal injury which would result in a clear breach of statutory legislation
• Liaising with external regulatory authorities to include the Health & Safety Executive, Fire Service, Police and any other required regulatory bodies

As our Health & Safety Advisor, you will be:
• NEBOSH certified in Occupational Health & Safety OR studying towards NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety
• Experienced within a similar role in the Waste Disposal, Recycling, Collections or Quarrying industry would be highly advantageous for this position

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about their role as a Health & Safety Advisor. You will need to be focused on understanding and supporting others in meeting their Health & Safety requirements, able to confidently train them in area’s where they may need to develop a further understanding. It is important that you can work collaboratively with others and can comfortably communicate within a large business at all levels. You should be understanding of the financial impact upon the business of any decisions you make with regards to Health & Safety, whilst having demonstrable skills in firstly recognising a Health & Safety issue and secondly deciding the best way to go about managing and resolving the situation by prioritising the importance of the situation in hand.
