An Electrical & Mechanical Engineer Manager is required to join one of the UK's largest independent box and container manufacturers.

You will drive forward, improve and manage all engineering aspects of the Wellington business. Be a member of middle management team and provide downtime and planned maintenance information to that forum as well as playing a key role in the setting and achieving of overall business objectives.

Set clear objectives and strategies for reportees and support them towards their individual and collective targets. Maintain excellent factory relationships and ensure that the manufacturing targets are met and costs controlled. Provide a product of an acceptable quality standard as determined by customer and market demands. Ensure robust procedures are in place and adhered to. Enforce the company Heath and Safety and other Policy in the factory environment.

Set an example to other employees in terms of personnel practices and ethics.
Main Duties

- Responsible for efficient performance of the engineering department.
- Ensure a preventative maintance system is in place and within budget to provide machine reliability.
- Enforce company standards and discipline.
- Personally handle complex issues raised. Advise follow managers accordingly
- Play a key role in the development of a pro-active, profit, results focused environment
- Advise production management on engineering requirements and capital investments
- Manage selected projects towards a successful conclusion.
- Providing a robust and controlled engineering facility in line with business objectives and targets
- Ensure engineering knowledge of the department is of the highest standard
- Provide an engineering team which perform to a level of excellence within the business
- Ensure a zero tolerance to unsafe practices is enforced
- Maintain housekeeping standards of the highest level
- Ensure excellent factory relations and efficient supplier relationships
- Manage selected suppliers to ensure best technical and quality performance
- Support customer and supplier visits when required.
- Minimise waste to within the company budgeted figure
- Ensure optimised planning practiced.
-Bring together and manage multi-functional teams to ensure role objectives are fulfilled
- Facilitate communication and share best practice with other sites and Group functions
- Contribute ideas/vision to enhance the efficiency of the business
- Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets are achieved

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

- Minimum of 10 years experience in an Engineering environment / management role.
- Is a multifaceted leader and demonstrates a number of management styles
- Can be "tough-minded" when required and carries sufficient credibility and gravitas when dealing with business
- Demonstrates empathy and patience when appropriate
- Can manage substantial budgets within cost parameters.
- Can bridge the gap between customer demands and plant capabilities
