This Southampton based IT & Communications company is currently seeking a Level 2 / 3 IT support / installation technician with the drive and determination to help them support their base of small & medium sized business clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a team, within a Managed Service Provider environment. They should have a proven track record of successfully addressing IT and Comms issues and of using technical training opportunities to improve their skills.

The role will include a combination of office-based Helpdesk support, Monitoring work and on-site Installation work.

The jobholder will be required to:

- Provide excellent customer service - building rapport and identifying appropriate solutions
- Meet established Service Level Agreements on turnaround times
- Identify, troubleshoot and document user issues and fixes - working within a structured problem-management and resolution process
- Work with colleagues and occasionally with vendors, to resolve customer problems
- Maintain accurate records including timesheets
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and undertake ongoing training

The technical knowledge and qualifications required for the role are:

1. Minimum 3 years' Service Desk experience
2. To hold a Microsoft Qualification
3. An excellent knowledge of Microsoft software and technologies including Office 365
4. Windows 7, 8 & 10. Windows Mobile and tablet versions.
5. Detailed Active Directory knowledge including an understanding of user and computer objects, OU's, group memberships.
6. Detailed networking knowledge including an understanding of IP addressing, DNS, and DHCP.
7. Understanding of remote access including VPNs and two factor authentication.
8. Understanding of printing including direct printing, print servers, and printer configuration.
9. Understanding of hardware encryption technologies. Understanding of desktop security and anti-virus, anti-virus, and anti-malware.
10. Understanding of software builds and imaging for laptops and PC's.
11. Good knowledge of hardware including laptops, PC's, printers, tablets, and smart phones.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strengths in the following personal competencies:

Full UK driving licence is required, with own car available for work (insured for business use.)
