This established name in IT Service and solutions is looking for an experienced systems engineer for a Field Service role based broadly in the Gloucester and South West area.

Working from home, the successful applicant will be carrying out installation, configuration and repair tasks on a wide range of multi-vendor server, networking and data storage equipment. The role will encompass all aspects of on-site reactive service, planned maintenance and project-based deployment. Additionally, their engineers provide remote and telephone support for fault diagnosis, problem verification and technical support to customers and colleagues.

The working environment will include everything from small and medium enterprises through to major data centres and the incumbent will share workload with colleagues covering the Gloucester area. As this is a global organisation, there is potential to be in communication with colleagues and customers worldwide. This company operates a 24/7 service for its many and varied customers and consequently engineers participate in an Out-Of-Hours Standby rota, typically on a 1 week in 4 basis.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience as a systems engineer, preferably accredited by appropriate manufacturers, with demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience of stand-alone and virtualised servers, network communications, disk arrays and tape libraries. Knowledge of EMC and/or Netapp skills, MS Server, Unix / Linux and virtualisation would be considered a major asset as would in-depth exposure to leading networking software. The ability to communicate with remotely-located Sysadmins will be paramount as much of the work will take place in unattended data centres.

All their engineers are required to be Security Cleared as their customer base includes sensitive and restricted locations and they will arrange this for the successful candidate if not already held. A full UK driving licence is a basic requirement.

In return, they offer a competitive salary 22k-25k dependent on experience, with opportunities for overtime and standby payments in addition. Benefits include a fully-expensed company car, laptop and iPhone. They provide planned training and development for their technical staff through external and in-house methodologies, including the on-line University which offers a wide range of subject matter in technical, operational and soft skills.

This is an opportunity to join and work with a long-established, successful and growing global organisation operating at the leading edge of IT technology.
