A Special Needs Nanny/Support Worker is required to provide personal care and assistance to a 3 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy, working closely with his mother in their family home based in Cullompton, Devon.

Special Needs Nanny/Support Worker Role Overview
- To support their client in maximising their independence in all activities of daily living
- To enable and promote their client in pursuing social outings
- To provide companionship
- To assist with any personal care required

Are you?
- Experienced in providing child care,
- a full clean driving licence holder with your own vehicle
- Able to drive a wheelchair adapted vehicle
- a non- smoker
- *Physically fit - Even with specialist equipment in place and appropriate training, it is important that you are physically fit. A Handling Management Plan designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries may require you to bend, kneel, squat or lunge to ensure good posture during handling tasks.
- Confident about working in client's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the parents.
- Flexible and able to use own initiative.
- Patient and tolerant with a proactive, encouraging approach.
- Flexible - to help with the other children in the family and general running of the household as and when the need arises.
- Willing to participate in a variety of outdoor activities
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and to respect our client and their family's need for privacy.
- Able to work flexible hours, sometimes at short notice and to be flexible with start and finish times according to the needs of the client.
- Willing to travel
- Willing to work with animals

- Experience of and qualifications in caring for children/young people with severe disabilities
- Previous experience of using specialist equipment with disabled people
- Experience of carrying out physiotherapy and/or multi-sensory programmes.
- Working knowledge of Makaton or BSL.

17 - 22 hours per week to be worked during the day on a Wednesday and Friday.

Rate of Pay:
GBP10.00 per hour, Monday to Friday and GBP11.00 per hour, Weekends
