YOUTH WORKER - FULL TIME
Supporting NEETS young people and running projects with youth groups
Post YOUTH WORKER
Hours 37.5 hours per week.
Payment The salary attributable to the post is the Association salary scale G stages 1 - 7 £22,362 - £25,933 for JNC qualified workers or salary scale E £18,768 - £21,765 for unqualified workers. For unqualified workers we would be looking to provide a training package to enable the person to become JNC qualified
Role To develop our project work with youth groups and to work with NEETS young people partly on the Progress Project . To be accountable and responsible for the design and delivery of a range of youth work projects, clubs, activities, individual support and events for the benefit of young people, working daytimes, evenings and weekends as required.
- To support and lead on the development and delivery of engaging projects, clubs, events, activities and individual support for young people. This will be done in close collaboration with the other Youth Workers, other paid staff and volunteers.
- To work with NEETS young people on the Progress project which is funded by the National Lottery and the European Social Fund.
- To work with the Fundraising Team to secure funding to help to meet the youth work budget requirements.
- To manage and achieve set targets within project budgets.
- Monitor and evaluate projects with young people, staff, families and partners, and demonstrate the impact of activities, providing reports as required to the Board of Trustees and stakeholders.
- To deliver training and development opportunities for young people, volunteers and youth/community workers
- Work with affiliated groups delivering WAYC programmes to them.
- To support, advise and guide adults working with young people
- To contribute to the development and marketing of WAYC services and activities
- To adhere to and promote the youth work values of inclusion, participation, empowerment and education.
- Promoting the active participation of young people in the activities of WAYC
- To carry out youth worker responsibilities for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people (including child protection)
- To become involved with local and regional networks and partnerships in order to promote and develop the work of WAYC.
- To establish relationships and a style of working that will enable the young people to develop themselves and progress to realise their abilities and potential.
- To manage energy within the workplace and to make WAYC as sustainable as possible.
- To develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with partners, families, statutory agencies and stakeholders.
- Identify, understand, confront and challenge attitudes, behaviour and practices which discriminate against any individual or group based aspects such as (but not exclusive to) race, gender, disability, economic circumstances, belief or sexuality.
The above is a job outline and you will be expected to carry out any other duties as agreed with the Chief Executive that achieve the aims of WAYC.
LOCATION OF HEAD OFFICE
The post is based at WAYC's office situated at Jubilee House, Westlea Road, Leamington Spa, CV31 3JE. It is just outside the town centre. WAYC operates a "No Smoking" policy within its grounds, offices and vehicles. The position will involve travelling throughout Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull as well as occasional meetings elsewhere.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
1 The post is for 37.5 hours a week - the allocation being agreed with the Line Manager. The salary attributable to the post is the WAYC scale G stages 1 - 7 £22,362 - £25,933 for JNC qualified workers or salary scale E £18,768 - £21,765 for unqualified workers.
2 WAYC has its own Terms and Conditions of Employment. This includes Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures.
3 The worker must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a wide range of geographical locations. WAYC owns one car. When it is not available then approved travelling expenses necessarily incurred in exercising the duties of the post will be reimbursed.
4 Pension Scheme: WAYC staff are auto enrolled into a stakeholder pension scheme with Scottish Widows. Staff contribute based on the minimum national requirements and WAYC will pay in 3% pension contribution and will match the employee's pension contribution up to 8 % of your Basic salary.
5 The nature of the work is flexible but will necessitate a regular commitment to evening and weekend work.
6 The holiday entitlement is 25 days plus two WAYC Days as well as Public Holidays. (pro rata for part time post). Holiday dates must be agreed in advance with the Chief Executive. The holiday entitlement increases by one day for every year of service up to an additional five days.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION
The line manager will offer advice and support. Regular recordings will be made by the worker which will be used in evaluating the work. The line manager will carry out regular supervision sessions with an appraisal after being in the post for three months and annual appraisals thereafter. The job description will be subject to regular review. The post holder will take part in WAYC's Staff Development policy. This allows for induction, managerial supervision and annual appraisal.
