Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Southampton

Salary: up to £28,000pa

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers for use in cutting, welding and marking applications in a wide range of industries. They sell products globally and have major business operations, including Research and Development, Manufacturing and Product Marketing located in both Rugby and Southampton, UK, with additional Sales and Customer Support locations in Asia and North America.

Working in an exciting, fast-paced, high-tech company, the successful candidate will be an organised and methodical individual with a flexible and adaptable approach. Working within a small finance team, this role will support the Financial Controller with the following Duties and Responsibilities:

• Credit control - including process / policy development
• Financial Accounting tasks at Month-End - including accruals / prepayments & intercompany reconciliations
• Identify, co-ordinate and improve processes through project management
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• VAT return / intrastats
• Bank reconciliations
• Administer US Sales Tax
• Input to consolidation model and headcount reporting package to HQ, Germany
• When necessary assist with purchases invoices / processing automated expenses via Concur
• Ad-hoc analysis required by Financial Controller

The successful candidate must be either a graduate or be AAT qualified and will have at least 1 years' experience in a Finance Department with computerised accounts.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Book-Keeping skills are essential
• Good communication skills are essential
• Applicant must be numerate with accurate keyboard & data entry skills
• Excel skills at intermediate level
• VAT experience preferred
• Be able to work under pressure of month end deadlines
• Flexible team player
• Motivated and pro-active nature
