Laboratory Technician, Harrogate

The Central Dispensary department, situated in Harrogate, was established over 25 years ago and is a fully GLP compliant facility providing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) formulations for use in preclinical trials. The department must ensure that there is consistency of formulation of the API by the inclusion in an appropriate carrier (e.g. capsule, solution, suspension or parenteral formulation) to allow use in these trials.

As our Laboratory Technician, you will prepare and record a wide variety of formulations for Toxicology studies. They can range from simple weighing to multi stage component mixtures. The group verifies the accuracy of the prepared formulations by chemical analysis. A wide variety of laboratory skills are employed.

Responsibilities of our Laboratory Technician include:

- Carrying out a range of procedures efficiently and to the required standards of regulatory compliance, safety and scientific integrity, using a range of industry standard equipment and dedicated computer systems.

- Liaising with the Supervisor or Study manager to understand the requirements of the job in terms of technical issues, targets and deadlines.

- Compiling and assesses scientific data in a timely manner.

- Gaining a good working knowledge of the methods, techniques and studies performed in the department.

To become our Laboratory Technician you must have the following skills and experience:

- GCSE or A level in Chemistry or equivalent

- You will have excellent motivation, communication and organizational skills

- Flexible, ability to work under pressure, good communication skills, and good attention to detail

- Comfortable working in a processing role

- Ideally, knowledge of ‘Good Laboratory Practice’ would be advantageous but not essential and experience of working in a scientific field would be advantageous however full training will be provided.
