Our company client is a well respected business who are actively seeking to recruit a highly ambitious Actuarial Systems Engineer for their office based in West Sussex. This is a unique opportunity to join a widely known brand in a period of fast paced change.

Main responsibilities for this role will involve:

* Perform conceptual systems and data architecture design work
* Install, configure and deploy commercial vendor applications and assist with internal applications deployment
* Perform application and data upgrades and updates
* Analyze existing applications to improve efficiency and reliability
* Serve as Actuarial Systems Support primary point of contact
* Support issue troubleshooting/identification and resolution process
* Provides Tier 1 / Tier 2 support for:
* Non-critical issues during regular business hours
* Critical (Severity 1) issues during both business and off-business hours
* Ensure adherence to IT Systems policies and procedures
* Support standard corporate IT functions such as Audit, D/R, IT Systems Platform changes and migrations, Strategic Planning, etc.

Essential experience and qualifications required:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
* 3+ years of SQL Server experience
* 3+ years of MS Office, especially Excel and Access, experience
* 3+ years of Systems Architecture and Infrastructure experience

o OS, configuration, data storage, virtualization
o Resource management and optimization
* 3+ years of Systems/Applications implementation, configuration and deployment
* Ability to mine and analyze data
* Experience with various Systems Management tools and applications
* Must have strong written and verbal communications skills

o Communicate and interact effectively with business units managers
* Ability to effectively summarize complex IT issues
* Ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously (multi-tasking)
* Ability to meet tight timelines and work during off-business hours as needed
* Must be organized, detail-oriented and have strong commitment towards high-quality deliverables
* Must be a self-starter with ability to identify trouble areas, propose viable solutions and see them through deployment

Preferred qualifications and knowledge:

* Corporate experience
* Familiarity with Insurance Fundamentals and Systems, especially Actuarial
* Familiarity/Experience with Capital Modeling systems, especially with Towers Watson
* Familiarity/Experience with Catastrophe Modeling systems, especially with RMS/AIR
* Data Modeling experience
* Cloud Computing concepts and experience, especially with AWS and/or Azure
