We are seeking an experienced Assistant Editor for an exciting new business media company based in central London. 

This an interesting opportunity to join the company in the early stages of its development and there is the potential of share options being provided for the right individual. 

Specifically, we are seeking an ambitious assistant editor for premier news and content service that provides insight and intelligence for a global audience of senior executives who oversee various financial and regulatory issues within large corporations. The assistant editor will play a key role in producing and coordinating editorial output. 

About Us:

The company is a new venture that is founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs and investors. The individual will therefore need to enjoy being part of a new enterprise and be able to work on their own initiative. 

Through its media, events and director education, our client creates a community for its target audience which allows them to access high quality journalism, expert insights on best practice, and share ideas and experience. Extensive research has been conducted into our client’s proposition and there is a clearly identifiable market opportunity. 

This is a diverse and challenging role that will involve using a varied mix of channels to reach senior corporate directors and various professional groups.

The role will involve the curation, and editing of relevant business news stories, articles and features for a discerning international business audience. You will liaise with reporters, contributors and external partners from the UK, Europe and internationally to ensure copy is delivered on time and to the appropriate standards. You will ensure that all digital content meets web content accessibility guidelines and best practice for search engine optimisation. You will also be responsible for collating digital content and co-ordinating editorial workflow via the website's CMS.

Assistant Editor Key Responsibilities include:

> Curate and edit global news stories on strategic business, financial, legal and economic issues for an international audience of senior corporate directors. 
> Adapt and edit content produced by reporters and external parties
> Liaise with our network of contributors and external parties such and industry organisations 
> Manage a schedule of content and material creation and amendments, responding to and meeting varying timeframes
> Ensure that editorial guidelines are maintained and developed for our digital platforms and audiences
> Ensure all digital content meets best practice guidelines for search engine optimisation
> Use social media to engage an online business audience 
> Actively contribute to content formulation within the editorial team
> Exercise good interpersonal/communication skills 
> Manage priorities in conjunction with the Publisher and Managing Editor

Assistant Editor Required Skills / Experience:

> Understanding of corporate finance / business issues
> Experience of writing and editing for business audiences
> Capable of developing new ideas, materials and messages within brand guidelines
> Experience of tailoring copy to digital channels and writing persuasively to specific audiences
> Excellent attention to detail (e.g. grammar, style, consistency, accuracy)
> Good research and selection skills 
> Experience of news editing for web based media
> Excellent understanding of how to use social media to engage an online business audience 
> Excellent project/time management skills 
> Good interpersonal and teamwork skills 
> Enthusiasm, drive and flexibility

This is an interesting, hands on role with an ambitious media company. You will need to demonstrate editorial flair, commercial awareness and be able to work to tight deadlines
