Co-ordinator Out of Hours Service

The Dundee and Angus Out of Hours Service is responsible for responding to requests in relation to the whole spectrum of Social Work Service including services for children and vulnerable adults who are in need or at risk of harm. The team also has a key role in the implementation of any civil emergency procedures and is the first point of contact for all Social Work business outwith normal office hours. Based at Seymour House, 274 Clepington Road, working part time, 35 hours per week, you will undertake rostered duties outwith normal working hours (including weekends, evenings, public holidays and night working). In addition to the salary quoted, a 25% supplement will be paid.
You will have a Degree or equivalent in Social Work and post qualifying training and study in Child Protection or Adult Support and Protection.
Supervising and prioritising the work on shift, you will undertake your duties on a rota basis. You will have responsibility for ensuring that OOHS provides an efficient and effective response to referrals for social work services. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day running of the team, to help promote positive working relationships within the department and with other agencies and to assume management responsibility in the absence of the Team Manager.
You will have post qualifying experience of child protection or adult support and protection, be confident and competent within the field of risk assessment and management and have a working knowledge of relevant legislation. You should possess leadership skills; have strong communication skills and be someone who can work under pressure and manage crisis situations. You will have a positive mental attitude; be solution-focused and prepared to work flexibly to support the work of the team. You will be willing to undertake further training and to work nights, weekends and public holidays at short notice. This post is considered regulated work with adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council. You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
