Deputy Home Manager – (Live in Accommodation Available)
Approx £16 per hour, to be discussed at interview
Responsible to: The Manager/The Directors/Owner, duties include:
1. To take responsibility for the day to day running of the Home in the absence of the Manager.
2. To promote a caring environment for Service Users through high standards of professional practice which are conducive to the physical, emotional, social intellectual and spiritual needs of the Service User.
3. To ensure that each Service User receives care appropriate to their individual need.
4. To implement the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People, published in accordance with the Care Standards Act & Code of Practice for Nursing Care.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. To manage the day to day running of the Home.
2. To provide all relevant information etc. to prospective Service Users and make appointments to show them and their relatives around the Home.
3. To decide whether or not the Home is able to meet the personal care needs of any prospective Service User and to negotiate an appropriate fee with the purchasing authority or the client or client’s family if not in receipt of local authority assistance.
4. To ensure that each new Service User receives a copy of the Terms & Conditions of residence and ensure that each Service User and, where appropriate, their representative of carer understands them.
5. To ensure that adequate arrangements for the introduction and reception of new Service Users are made.
6. To investigate complaints, take appropriate action and report to the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales.
7. To liaise and co-operate with CSIW inspectors and inspections.
Service User Care:
1. To ensure that the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the Service Users are recognised, assessed and met.
2. To support Service Users in the taking of decisions in matters which effect their life style.
3. To make or contribute to the assessment of need of each Service User in conjunction with the Service User, relevant professional agencies and, where appropriate, the Service User’s family, and to develop a care plan which provides a satisfactory quality of life for that person.
4. To promote relationships which enable each Service User to participate in social activities within the Home and in the life of the local community to the maximum of their ability.
5. To ensure the provision of health care arrangements which will include the ordering, recording and administration of prescribed medication.
6. To be responsible with the departmental head for the effective running of the domestic character of the Home.
7. To ensure the provision of care including that which may be provided by a competent and caring relative and which may include terminal care, under the direction of the GP and with the support of the community nursing service.
The successful person who joins this great Home in the role of Deputy Home Manager, will of course have further duties and responsibilities with regards to Staff Management, Premises and Finance.
