“Inspiring and supporting young people to make positive choices about the future”

Haybrook College educates young people aged 11 to 19 who have challenging and complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) or medical needs.

Millside School is a special school for young people with challenging and complex behaviours associated with a SEMH difficulty. There is also a KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) which provides a range of high quality educational programmes helping to make positive changes in the lives of young people and ensuring the best possible educational outcomes.

Springboard is one of the College’s KS4 PRU provisions and provides an alternative full time education for KS4 pupils who have been referred from mainstream schools and are at risk of, or have been permanently excluded. Many pupils have very complex backgrounds and learning or behavioural needs that would be difficult to meet in a mainstream setting. Each pupil’s timetable is fixed but flexible and can be tailored to meet an individual pupil’s learning and behavioural needs. The pupils are supported by Sports Coach Mentors who act as their co-tutors, monitoring their attendance, learning and behaviour.

Our dedicated staff team are highly skilled and committed to educating young people with some of the most challenging behaviours in the area.

We would like to recruit the following posts:

TEACHER (KS3 & KS4)
Salary: Teacher’s Pay Scales, London Fringe + SEN Allowance
Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience • Full time

An enthusiastic and versatile teacher is required to teach a range of subjects at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Experience of teaching English and/or Maths or teaching in a primary school would be advantageous. You must have proven skills of effective management of pupils with complex and challenging behaviour. The ability to think creatively and to be flexible in the particularly challenging environment of a PRU and SEMH setting is essential.

Ideally you will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but unqualified teachers with experience of working with young people and managing challenging behaviour will be considered.
