Our client, a leading technical innovation company based in Cambridge, is looking for a full time Project Management Assistant. In this busy and demanding role you will work with members of the Programme Management Group who are tasked with delivering exciting development programmes. You will assist the Programme Managers in the administration of client projects, including help to track and monitor project progress and provide regular reporting. The Programme Managers within the Wireless Division are challenged to deliver innovative product developments across the entire wireless landscape - from high volume consumer applications such as portable internet-based devices, through to professional high-performance systems including air traffic control radios used to govern the US airspace. The markets that they address include telecommunications, healthcare, industrial, satellite, consumer and automotive. Your role will be to provide an excellent level of administrative support including cost tracking, project progress tracking, calculating project invoices, taking technical project meeting minutes, plus generating and administering a variety of project documentation.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining project documentation including quality plans, project risk registers, project instructions, project plans and action registers
- Creating and maintaining spread sheets to monitor project performance, tracking project costs vs budget and as projects progress reviewing the results against baseline and forecast
- Managing project invoicing
- Attending and taking minutes at technical project meetings
- Assisting with routine project information including preparation of weekly progress reports for clients
- As needed work closely with the SHE department to create and maintain project safety management plans
- Providing support during bid activities including tailoring CVs and providing sales information
- Liaising with clients and suppliers to arrange meetings and chase actions
- Providing a point of contact internally and externally when members of the project management team are otherwise unavailable
All applicants must have experience of working in a project environment, being able to demonstrate an understanding of the project development cycle. You must also have previous experience of working within a commercial and financially focused administrative role. You will need to be highly organised with a degree of flexibility to meet the diverse needs of the role and must be comfortable liaising with members of staff of all levels of seniority, both internally and in a client-facing environment. Experience of working in a project administrator role, ideally within a product development group would be an advantage.
Applicants must have previous experience of working with financial systems, reporting tools and the application of a budget tracking system. You must have experience of analysing and presenting data including manipulating data from a variety of sources and the use of an appropriate presentation method to convey results. Extensive experience of Microsoft Office products especially Excel, Visio and Project is essential.
This role requires a high degree of diligence and professionalism and you will need to have a keen eye for detail, a determined approach and be capable of working both independently and within teams. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on new project development projects and ISO9001 compliant processes. You will need the ability to create and manage an array of project documentation; Essential skills required for this role include a high level of proficiency using MS Excel and a high level of numeracy with an ability to generate accurate, high quality reports. Alongside this, it is essential to have a strong attention to detail and a high level of literacy accuracy.
