Challenge Control has been part of the Home Automation industry since 1978, starting out as specialists in TV repair and aerial installations. Moving forward with the change in technologies and making use of their dedicated engineering teams, they are now specialists at the top end of the home and commercial automation industry.

As a Commercial Manager you will be:

  • Resolving contractual and commercial problems
  • Discovering areas that are not in-keeping with regulation practices
  • Offering direction and instruction
  • Risk assessment
  • Reviewing and developing operational process flows
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations
  • Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties
  • Overseeing financial KPIs
  • Management/mentoring/training of other Quantity Surveyors

Requirements of the successful Commercial Manager:

  • Willing to travel Kent-London-Surrey
  • Very good Knowledge of Construction law
  • Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment / invoices to client
  • Preparation of  valuation and agreement of variations to contract
  • Preparation of Sub-contractor orders; valuation and final accounts
  • Preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Attend and contribute to regular project progress meetings
  • Visit site and liase with contractor QS / site team
  • Financial Management of Projects through tight budgetary control
  • Dispute resolution / settlement of contractual claims
  • Good with accounts
  • Use of Quickbooks or similar
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Good client facing
  • Attention to detail, maintain good quality and accurate records
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Understanding of AV-TV or electrical or MECH is preferred

Specifications of the Commercial Manager:

  • 5 years’ experience
  • Strong Negotiator
  • Strong Commercial awareness
  • Educated to degree level
  • In depth knowledge of project programming and delay management
  • Ability to absorb complex information, assess requirements readily
  • Self-driven to achieve results
  • Able to manage own time, prioritise requirements and multi-task


  • BSc (Commercial management) preferred
