We’re now looking to hire a new Contract & Transport Manager to be part of our team at the Pepperhill Waste Transfer Station, Kent, providing an industry competitive salary, benefits and a company car.
We need you to manage the Transfer Station, HWRC & Transport operations in the Kent area following accordance with FCC and local area practice. You will also be responsible for ensuring all corporate SHEQ targets are met with regards to cost, recycling, customer service and communication and that all fixed plant, equipment and vehicles are maintained within compliance & legislation practice.
Your key responsibilities as the Contract & Transport Manager will include:
• Implementing systems changes in support of vehicle operations and management, assisting in performance KPI’s & providing advice with regards to the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of vehicle & plant equipment
• Managing and maintain all contracts under your supervision whilst monitoring and reporting on all contractual requirements, taking prompt action to rectify any service delivery issues
• Ensuring all operations are procedurally and culturally integrated with FCC and setting achievable and appropriate targets that deliver continuous improvement of service standards with a particular focus on recycling
• Identifying any and all opportunities to expand the range of materials recycled, ensuring best value is achieved and reviewing any recycling operations & arrangements for improvements as required
• Ensuring the prompt invoicing and maintenance of the invoicing system, updating where required in a timely manner to improve efficiency of reports, payments and reconciliations and achievement of ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO18001
• Managing, motivating and developing the regional team to ensure continued training is provided, Health & Safety awareness is maintained and recruitment/contingency plans are managed appropriately
• Assist in the preparation of financial budgets and reports and P&L / CAPEX responsibilities are managed
Qualifications & Skills required for the successful Contracts and Transport Manager:
• CPC
• COTC (or working towards)
• Supervisory / Team Leader experience
• Experience working within a compliance / operational environment
• Financial / budgeting experience
• Experience of contract management & transport management
• Degree educated or equivalent
• Experience of maintaining truck / plant mechanical equipment
• A reputation for delivering continuous improvement and ‘on-time’ deliveries
• Knowledge of the waste / recycling sector

We need someone with first class communication & interpersonal skills who is commercially aware and performance/results driven. It is required that you embrace your responsibility as a manager, able to re-evaluate priorities as they arise and responding positively in a changing environment. You should be confident in your numerical and IT skills, business intellect and negotiation skills and also be fully aware of Health & Safety legislation.
