Deputy Purchasing Manager - Competitive Salary and Benefits package

An exciting opportunity is being created within the Purchasing team for a Deputy Purchasing Manager. The position will report to the Purchasing Manager and will be a crucial position in the procurement of high value categories for the various business groups.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong contract negotiation skills acquired in a process/heavy manufacturing industry with ideally experience in the procurement of mobile plant, chemicals and/or engineering/capital projects. The position also has responsibility for the management and development of a team of buyers.

Therefore the successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of the transactional side of purchasing. The successful candidate must have the ability to challenge the status quo, to suggest process improvements, and deliver the benefit of these to the business. The role is based in Nanpean, near St Austell, Cornwall.

  • Are MCIPS qualified, educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Have significant and proven purchasing experience including contract law, terms and conditions as well as strong negotiation skills whilst being a confident decision maker.
  • Have experience of project management.
  • Have a proven experience in working across functions to provide prompt and effective service
  • Are willing to travel
  • Are highly motivated and a proactive driver of change
  • Have the ability to have a global view linking business need to purchasing strategy and be able to quickly understand high level technical elements of the category being handled.
