BEFORE LOOKING TO SIGN FOR DAVID'S TEAM
-You need to know-
David is profoundly deaf and finds it very difficult to understand you.
David first language is BSL( british sign language) and he needs you to be able to use this too.
Being unable to hear David can become very frustrated and distressed if he cannot either communicate with you or understand what you are saying.
David also experiences Autistic spectrum difficulties, he really needs you to be able to appreciate and understand how this makes him feel.
David has also had a transplant.
David also has CHSP condition which can make him fatigued he need you to be very aware and sensitive to this.
Above all David needs you to know that he wants to lead a LIFE just like everyone else and WITHOUT YOUR HELP he is unable to achieve this on his own. He really needs someone like you to help him do the things that matter to him.

Staff are selected for their reliability, experience, integrity, skills, friendliness and professionalism.They are carefully screened and references are always checked thoroughly including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
We are looking for a care support worker to join out established team of support workers providing high quality care to a young man who is profoundly deaf with complex needs. Whilst our clients physical care needs are crucial you will participate in developing his social skills and facilitating learning opportunities to enable this young man to achieve a rich and fulfilling life.
David lives at home with his family.
He is deaf and speech is not always clear but is able to communicate via BSL, lip reading, written communications. His interests include football, computer games, film, comedy, photography and outings to the pub. You will assist in facilitating his social activities and interests. You will have a calm but positive disposition and the ability to work sensitively in the homecare environment. You will hold a full driving licence.
Comprehensive specialist training and support provided by colleagues, the Team Leader and the Care Manager.
We are seeking skilled workers who are keen to support adults with deaf issues and some with a learning disability, autism and some challenging behaviours.
Working for an established organisation that provide support to adults with deaf issues we are recruiting for skilled support workers.
You will be keen to want to work with people within the deaf community and have the desire to want to offer support, have a positive and enthusiastic approach to your work. Your experience and knowledge of working with people within the deaf community will be perfect to what we are seeking.
Ideally you will have a good overall understanding of working with vulnerable adults, those who may have a learning disability, or mental health issues or autism. You will be flexible to work various hours and shifts and be available to attend and complete training courses where required.
Ideally you will hold the BSL level 1 or be will willing to complete the course and go on to complete the BSL level 2, and hold mandatory training including safeguarding, First Aid,food hygiene and Health and Safety.
Attractive hourly rates available including incentives, training, holiday entitlement.
You will have ideally a minimum of one years experience of working across social care sectors or 6 months experience with a relevant social care qualification.
YOU WILL RECEIVE:
Full training to understand and meet David's needs, including BSL, Autistic Spectrum Condition, meeting health needs to transplant and maintaining optimum health and positive behaviour support.
Regular supervision, debriefing and on going support.
