LOCATION: Brackley, Northamptonshire
JOB TITLE: Cleaner
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP7.44 p/h (if age 25 and over)
WORKING HOURS: 6.00pm - 8.00pm Monday to Friday - Term Time plus 7 days
THE COMPANY: Our client is one of the country's oldest preparatory schools having been founded in 1910. The Manor House is set in 30 acres of stunning grounds and woods and home to 370 pupils based in Brackley, Northamptonshire.
THE ROLE: The role of the Cleaner will be to provide an efficient cleaning service to standards set by the Housekeeper and Bursar.
Key Responsibilities of a Cleaner to include:-
• To clean on a daily basis all wet rooms within the school i.e; showers, toilets, kitchens, to the standard required.
• To check on a daily basis and replenish if necessary all toilet roll, soap and paper towel dispensers.
• To clean as required public areas to the standard required.
• To sweep/mop/vacuum floors and mats on a daily basis as required.
• To remove all rubbish on a daily basis with particular attention to recycling where possible.
• To wipe down furniture, doors, walls, window sills, pipe work and skirting as needed.
• Clean insides of windows and window frames as required.
• To report on a daily basis any maintenance requirements to the Bursar/Housekeeper.
• During school holiday periods a complete deep cleaning of all areas is expected including wash down of walls, paintwork, scrubbing of floors and cleaning windows where necessary.
• During school holidays all mattress, pillow protectors and shower curtains should be removed and washed.
• On occasions such as busy periods and staff sickness you will be asked to help out in other areas around the school.
• To conform to health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and to be aware of health and safety infringements, reporting incidents to the Bursar/Housekeeper.
• To ensure adherence to statutory Health and Safety and Data Protection Legislation at all times.
• To follow the School's child protection guidelines.
• All such other duties as the school may reasonably from time to time communicate either orally or in writing to you.
Your normal hours will include a regular number of hours per week, at times agreed with the Housekeeper during term-time. Hours may be varied from time to time in the interests of the school and with your agreement. Some additional hours will be required throughout the year for parents' evenings and other school functions.
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have a passion for service: warm, friendly and genuine with excellent all round communication skills. They must be able to establish strong relationships with other colleagues and maintain a professional image at all times. You will bring your experience to the role to be able to advise others in a specialist's area of expertise. You will have a 'can do' approach to your working day and be flexible regarding working overtime to get the job done.
Key experience essential for the role of Cleaner based in Brackley, Northamptonshire:
• Must live within a commutable distance of Brackley.
• Will have previous experience in a similar role/environment.
• Must have an understanding of current health and safety legislation.
