The National Assembly for Wales is entering one of the most fascinating and challenging periods in its history, not least with further significant constitutional change and the outcome of the EU referendum. The Assembly Commission will have a demanding agenda in order to respond to the pressures being faced by the Assembly. The context for this role in the next few years is therefore likely to be extremely challenging and highly significant for the future of Wales

The organisation is seeking to appoint an exceptional person as its Chief Executive to build on the foundations set by the current post holder. The successful candidate will have a complex brief with three key responsibilities as Clerk of the Assembly, Chief Executive and Accounting Officer. Whether from the public or private sector, they will need to demonstrate proven strategic leadership within a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment with a reputation for creating greater capacity through organisational change. They must display a demonstrable commitment to the delivery of exemplar bilingual services and further developing the Assembly as a truly bilingual institution. Above all they will need to demonstrate a passion for Welsh democracy and the ability, judgement and resilience to work within a highly complex political environment.

Bydd gan yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus swyddogaeth gymhleth a fydd yn cynnwys tri chyfrifoldeb allweddol: Clerc y Cynulliad, Prif Weithredwr, a Swyddog Cyfrifyddu. Pa un a yw’n dod o’r sector cyhoeddus neu’r sector preifat, bydd angen i ymgeiswyr ddangos hanes o arweinyddiaeth strategol, o fewn amgylchedd dynamig â rhanddeiliaid amrywiol, ac enw da am feithrin mwy o allu drwy newid sefydliadol. Rhaid i ymgeiswyr ddangos ymrwymiad amlwg i ddarparu gwasanaethau dwyieithog rhagorol a datblygu’r Cynulliad ymhellach fel sefydliad gwirioneddol ddwyieithog. Yn anad dim, bydd angen dangos angerdd dros ddemocratiaeth Cymru a’r gallu, y crebwyll a’r gwytnwch i weithio mewn amgylchedd gwleidyddol cymhleth iawn.
